Tyler McAdams talked about his development of a livecd which has an advanced optimization scheme using a programming technique called PGO (Profiled Guided Optimization). What this means is you work for about a week with the LiveCD and then after you have had time to "break in" the system PGO collects those usability metrics and when you install the LiveCd to disk, PGO actually self optimizes the OS for your particular usage. It is called SEL for Self Evolving Linux.
